Matthew Cerillo, a Metropolitan Opera award winning and globally recognized tenor brings a classical recital into the 21st century. With a program featuring female. black, and LGBTQ+ composers along with opera favorites. Works by Lady Gaga, Puccini, Undine Smith Moore, Tchaikovsky, Florence Price, Strauss, and more.
Selections from Puccini’s La bohème, Bizet’s Carmen, Rossini’s Stabat Mater, and Menotti’s The Saint of Bleecker Street as well as art songs by Jean Sibelius, Ben Moore, Schubert’s Die schöne Müllerin, including rare art songs by Angelo Mariani and Arwel Hughes. Guests include Kristina Shafranski (soprano) and Dr. Violetta Zabbi (piano).
Matthew will be performing pieces by John Dowland and Robert Johnson in Hofstra’s Collegium Musicum, directed by Christopher Morrongiello. This performance will proceed Hofstra University’s production of Shakespeare’s Troilus and Cressida. $10 general admission. // $8 senior citizen (over 65).
